2018-11-11, Kobe

Well I certainly am behind in my blog posts!  The leaves started to turn a few weeks ago and I've been spending most of my weekends looking at the beautiful colors!  So until mid-December (probably) all my posts will be mostly pictures of autumn leaves.  If that's not your thing, or it's just too much for you, check in next month!

One of the Japanese teachers was going to take her son to a college fair in Kobe and asked another teacher and me if we'd like to join them.  We said of course - and then her son couldn't make it but we went anyway.  Her daughter is living in Singapore for 6 months so we stayed in her little apartment overnight.

Upon our arrival (about a 3 - 3 1/2 hour drive) we went to the city arboretum which was really nice.

We had dinner in the famous Kobe Chinatown.  And did a little sightseeing around the port area.

The following day we took a cable car to an herb garden on a mountain.

Chia and Takako enjoying some lavender ice cream.

We couldn't leave Kobe without having some famous Kobe beef.

This 'quartet plate' has small pieces of different types of beef (like sirloin, shoulder, etc.) a little beef curry and on the right a heating stone so you can heat the meat before you eat it one bite at a time.
